Principal Pipeline Costs
New principal hires require two types of training investments:
  • Technical onboarding to learn district rules, regulations, and reform initiatives
  • Early career support systems such as coaches or mentors for the first two years of the principalship
Conservative estimates from the School Leaders Network show a cost of $5,850 per hired principal. Nationally, the average yearly principal churn rate is 22 percent.
