Receiving the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award is an extraordinary honor I am deeply grateful for. It is humbling to have your work recognized in such a meaningful way. I believe every educator comes into this field giving everything of themselves and expecting nothing in return. So, when you are recognized, it is truly a memorable and humbling experience.

The greatest part of this recognition is knowing it represents not only the administrator, but a whole team that believes in children—teachers who refuse to give up, students who continue to grow and achieve, families who trust us with their children, and a school community committed to excellence.

This recognition provides an opportunity to highlight the incredible work happening in Texas schools. It validates and highlights educators who are making a difference and reminds us that the work we do together can change a life forever. Being nominated or selected reflects the great commitment and effort of an entire school community.

Excellence deserves to be acknowledged! The lives you’ve touched, the challenges you’ve faced, and the odds you’ve beaten become a testament to the success of your school! This success, in turn, validates the integrity of one’s profession.

I encourage you to nominate someone whose story has inspired you. Nominations for the 2027 awards close September 30! All educators and leaders in education have their own unique narrative and journey which deserves to be showcased. The work educators do daily have a tremendous impact, and the difference they make in the lives of students deserves to be celebrated.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Award is more than a prestigious honor. It is a reminder that educators and school leaders matter, as well as the work we do every day! This is what makes the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards such a special recognition.
