TEPSA Leadership
TEPSA, formed in 1917, represents more than 5,300 school administrators. These administrators supervise 100,000 school teachers who direct the activities of 2.3 million school children. In addition to principals, the membership includes supervisors of reading, mathematics, science, special education and other subject disciplines; it also serves central office administrators who are responsible for the administration of elementary education. Two out of three public school children in Texas are supervised by a TEPSA member. TEPSA is the only association that has elementary school principals and supervisors as its primary focus for membership. Eighty-two percent of the Texas administrators eligible for membership belong to TEPSA.
TEPSA is governed by a seven-member Executive Committee. The association is divided into 20 districts each led by a District President. These regions have geographic boundaries similar to the Regional Service Centers. TEPSA operates through four Standing Committees: Advocacy, Marketing & PR, Programs and Services, and Special Committee on Elections. In addition, there is an Ad Hoc Communications Committee. A 12-member staff works at the association office in Austin.
