A Note to Student Council Advisors

Dear Student Council Advisor:

We are so happy that you and your students are interested in the Leaders ‘R’ Us Student Council Workshop. We feel confident that it will be a day filled with new learning opportunities. We will look forward to having you in our group. If you are a new advisor, you will learn how to establish a council on your campus and how to hold the students accountable for the work of the council. If you are an experienced advisor and one that has attended our workshops previously, you will have the opportunity to learn new ideas as you network with other experienced advisors.

FLASH! We need your help! We are seeking success stories from your student council. The story may be about an outstanding project that garnered public attention or a story about how work on the council has changed the life of a student or students on your campus. Don’t limit your thinking to these two examples; they are just examples. We want to know how the student council is making a difference on your campus. Is it changing student attitudes? Is it impacting student discipline? Is it impacting students academically? If you have a story that you would like to share, please e-mail it to me at csolo@sbcglobal.net as soon as possible. This year we have built in a ten-minute time slot during the opening session for advisors and/or students to share these stories. Please limit your story to two or three minutes. We are also using these stories in our TEPSA publications. Some of your stories will be shared during the general session; some will be shared during the advisor session; some will be published in our TEPSA articles. When I receive your story, I will contact you. Please make sure that I have an e-mail address and a phone number.

Workshop Schedule

Reminders about the workshop:

• Lunch and all materials, including a pen, will be provided.
• Leaders ‘R’ Us shirts will be available for purchase. These can be pre-ordered with the registration or purchased at the workshop. They are $11.
• Silly Songs of Leadership DVD - $10 can be preordered or purchased on site
  * Free DVD when you purchase a minimum of 10 t-shirts and 10 dog tags.
• Leaders 'R' Us Dog Tags ($2 each) can be preordered or purchased onsite.
